Community Guidelines

Liyo gives you anonymity — a rare thing online. With that freedom comes responsibility. We ask everyone to treat these principles as the foundation of every post, answer, and interaction:

• Be honest. Anonymity is not a licence to deceive. Share genuine thoughts, real questions, and truthful answers.
• Be kind. Disagreement is healthy. Cruelty is not. Critique ideas, not people.
• Protect privacy. Never share someone else's personal information — whether they are a public figure or a private individual.
• Take responsibility. Anonymous does not mean consequence-free. You are still accountable for what you post.

The following content violates our guidelines and will be removed. Repeated violations will result in account suspension or permanent ban.

Hate speech and discrimination

Content that attacks, dehumanises, or promotes hatred against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic is prohibited.

Harassment and bullying

Targeted abuse, threats, doxxing, stalking, sustained harassment campaigns, or content designed to intimidate, shame, or harm a specific individual is prohibited — even if that individual is anonymous.

Violence and threats

Explicit threats of violence or content that glorifies, incites, or celebrates violence against any person or group is prohibited.

Sexual content involving minors

Any content that sexually exploits or endangers children is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the appropriate authorities immediately.

Non-consensual intimate imagery

Sharing intimate images or videos of any person without their consent is prohibited.

Dangerous misinformation

Content that spreads demonstrably false information with the potential to cause real-world harm — particularly regarding health, safety, or elections — is prohibited.

Spam and manipulation

Coordinated inauthentic behaviour, vote manipulation, duplicate posting, or the use of automated systems to engage with the Service is prohibited.

Illegal content

Content that promotes, facilitates, or constitutes illegal activity — including but not limited to drug sales, weapons trafficking, fraud, and copyright infringement — is prohibited.

Personal information

Do not post the full name, address, phone number, email, financial details, or other identifying information of any private individual without their explicit consent.

Some content is not prohibited but requires thoughtfulness:

• Mental health discussions: Conversations about mental health are welcome. We ask that you approach these topics with sensitivity and refer people in crisis to professional resources.
• Controversial topics: Politics, religion, and social issues can be discussed. Keep conversations constructive and avoid inflammatory rhetoric.
• Satire and humour: Satire is permitted, but must be clearly identifiable as such. Humour that targets protected characteristics or individuals is not acceptable.
• Speculation about others: Sharing rumours or unverified claims about specific people — even public figures — should be clearly framed as unverified.

Liyo uses a combination of automated and human moderation:

• AI pre-screening: All submitted content is reviewed by AI tools before publication. Content flagged as potentially violating our guidelines may be blocked or held for review.
• Community reporting: Users can report content they believe violates these guidelines. Reports are reviewed and acted upon.
• Threshold-based review: Content that receives a significant number of user reports is automatically surfaced for human review and may be temporarily hidden during that review.
• Human review: Our moderation team reviews flagged and reported content and makes final decisions.

We aim to act on reports promptly, but cannot guarantee a specific response time. Moderation decisions are made at Liyo's sole discretion.

If you encounter content that you believe violates these guidelines, please use the “Report” button on the post or answer. When reporting, please:

• Select the most accurate reason for your report;
• Avoid reporting content simply because you disagree with it; and
• Do not attempt to coordinate mass reporting to silence viewpoints you dislike.

Abusing the report system to harass other users or suppress legitimate content is itself a violation of these guidelines.

Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, Liyo may take the following actions:

• Removal of the violating content;
• A warning issued to your account;
• Temporary suspension of posting privileges;
• Permanent account ban; and
• Referral to law enforcement for serious violations (e.g., threats of violence, CSAM).

We reserve the right to take action without prior warning for severe violations.

If you believe your content was removed or your account was actioned in error, you may appeal by contacting Liyo. Appeals are reviewed by a member of our team who was not involved in the original decision. We will respond to appeals as promptly as possible. Our decision on appeal is final.

By using Liyo, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Community Guidelines and our Terms of Service. These guidelines may be updated periodically. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any updated guidelines.
